Bronze Courses
BRONZE STAR
Bronze Star is excellent preparation for success in Bronze Medallion and provides a fun introduction to lifesaving sport.The course develops swimming proficiency, lifesaving skill and personal fitness. Candidates refine their stroke mechanics, acquire self-rescue skills, and apply fitness principles in training workouts.
Prerequisite: Completion of swimming requirments of level 10 and Swim Patrol experience recommended.
BRONZE medallion
The Bronze Medallion course offers an understanding of the 4 components of water rescue education: judgment, fitness, knowledge, and skill. Rescuers learn tows & carries and release methods. Students develop stroke efficiency and endurance in a timed swim. Bronze Medallion is a prerequisite for training in Bronze Cross.
Prerequisite: Minimum 13 years of age or Bronze Star certification (need not be current).
Bronze Cross
The Bronze Cross course is an advanced lifesaving training, including an introduction to safe supervision in aquatic facilities. Students learn spinal injury and pulseless victim rescues. Bronze Cross is a prerequisite for advanced training in the Society’s National Lifeguard and leadership certification programs.
Prerequisite: Bronze Medallion and Lifesaving Society Emergency or Standard First Aid certifications (need not be current).
